Holland Baroque and Daniël Lohues made a program together around Bach five years ago. “Holland Baroque’s arrangements show that there is a timeless space where purebred musicians like Lohues can enter into ‘conversation’ with Bach or Handel,” wrote NRC in a four-star review. Next year they will join forces again and travel after the Christmas star during the Advent season. They play music from the eighteenth century and new and old works by Daniel, arranged for baroque orchestra by Tineke and Judith Steenbrink, which they make sound “as if they have never sounded otherwise” (again NRC). Advent will be an atmospheric evening of comforting music and words of hope.
