Musician Johnny Loves Me (Jonathan Bergsma) from Leeuwarden plays the leading role in this arthouse album film about a boy who runs away from his emotions and therefore loses his grip on reality.

The film is the visual interpretation of the story of the accompanying concept album “Johnny loves me, really?”. It is a largely silent expressionist journey through Johnny’s emotional world of experience, and a magical realistic account of a process of (self)confrontation and acceptance. Wanting to be vulnerable, not daring to do so and then taking the first cautious steps anyway. The story is mainly told through the clear, sharp lyrics of Johnny Loves Me, sung and rapped to pop-hip-hop music.
