For their first residency concert, Fuse joins forces with enchanting Greek soprano Aphrodite Patoulidou for a journey through various musical traditions. The six musicians and the singer share a passion for music with a frayed edge, focusing on stories of escapes and metamorphoses. Together they enter a fairy-tale and sometimes dark territory, where the boundaries between fantasy and reality blur.

Fuse combines pearls from Romanticism, jazz, Broadway and pop. Thus you will hear extraordinary arrangements of music by Kurt Weill, Billy Strayhorn, Frank Zappa, Schubert, Strauss and Purcell. Patoulidou’s versatile voice and expressiveness are thereby the perfect complement to Fuse’s dynamics.

Aphrodite Patoulidou

Thessaloniki-born Aphrodite Patoulidou is one of today’s most promising sopranos. An artistic phenomenon who emerged from the talent program of world star Barbara Hannigan and has already performed on stage with top orchestras such as Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France and the Concertgebouw Orchestra. In her performances, Patoulidou combines dark romantic themes with folk and classical traditions, often brought to life by her signature accompaniment on the nyckelharpa.
