Star violinist Isabelle van Keulen shines in Mozart’s virtuoso Fifth Violin Concerto as an energetic prelude to Bruckner’s musical testament. His Ninth Symphony is a personal quest for the good, beautiful and true, captured in vast soundscapes. In a grand symphonic, almost cosmic framework, Bruckner awefully explores the grandeur of the world around him – and within himself.

Bruckner’s masterpiece is preceded by the Fifth and final Violin Concerto by Mozart, one of Bruckner’s great musical heroes. Internationally lauded violinist Isabelle van Keulen signs on as soloist. Mozart’s Violin Concerto No. 5 glows with a zest for life and, like Bruckner’s symphony, is brimming with energy. But where with Mozart elegance and refinement set the tone, with Bruckner drama and expression dominate.

The Ninth Symphony is Bruckner’s last and perhaps most impressive symphony. The work, which he dedicated to God, is charged with unprecedented emotional depth and drama. The symphony is the sound result of Bruckner’s personal spiritual quest as well as a soul-stirring musical farewell letter to the world. Inimitably, he makes a grab for the intangible, leaving us with a penetrating musical testament in which spirituality and emotion predominate.
