In his experimental feature debut, Tomás Pichardo Espaillant uses stop-motion animation, drawings, claymation and a rich soundscape, complicating the way we remember and commemorate intimacy. An ode to love told through time, space and the unreliable source of memory.

Olivia & the Clouds follows the love story of two couples. As each person recounts the nature of their relationship, it becomes clear that our memories are intertwined with the stories we tell ourselves. As a result, two people in the same relationship can have different experiences.

Besides the storylines that anchor the film, there is the filmmaker's exquisite imagery. Sketched live-action landscapes of the Dominican Republic, the anthropormorphism of a woman's longing for love depicted as a potted plant and a man's desires read from his interactions with the plant, present and past intertwined in 2D. Olivia & the Clouds is a visual and aural tale of love, loss and memory.
