The North Netherlands Orchestra and Grasnapolsky are launching a new recurring concept with OPMAAT. For the first time, the symphony orchestra and the discovery festival are joining forces for an evening of musical discovery at SPOT Groningen.

Programme
With Def as the latest addition, the OPMAAT programme is complete. The North Netherlands Orchestra will play two 30-minute sets in the Main Hall – from film scores to classical masterpieces. Sef, Def, Min Taka, and Kunstkantine will complete the programme in the Small Hall and Foyer, curated by the Grasnapolsky festival.

With Edison Award winner Sef as headliner, one of the most popular artists of the moment is coming to Groningen. His album Lieve Monsters and his Lowlands show made a huge impression. His fall tour is sold out – this is his only show in the north.

The 21-year-old Def is the new sensation: a sold-out tour without an album, millions of streams on Hoekie van me bedje and Bad Bitches, and 55k TikTok followers. His show at Into The Great Wide Open was packed.

Min Taka, based in Istanbul and Rotterdam, makes music that blends indie, liquid drum & bass, and hyperpop. Her new EP was streamed over a million times in a week, and she has previously performed at Motel Mozaïque and Down The Rabbit Hole.

Among the galleries, you’ll find art by Kunstkantine (formerly De Nieuwe Editie), which launched its gallery at Grasnapolsky 2024. Works by Jurjen Galema, Alexandra Subota, and Maria Longinou, among others, are on display.

The NNO will play two (different) 30-minute sets. From iconic film scores from Halloween and Dead Space to classics like Berlioz’s Symphonie Fantastique and Mussorgsky’s Hut on Chicken Legs. From whispering strings to explosive orchestral outbursts, this evening you’ll experience how virtuosic, intense, and cinematic an orchestra can sound. Conductor: Risto Joost

Choose your own route during this festival evening, from Sef to a symphonic piece. Linger near the art or installations in the corridors. Grab a drink at the bar. There are no assigned seats or mandatory programs.
