Guided Tour of Organic Farm Eikemaheert

On Saturday afternoon, September 27th, we are organizing a guided tour at the organic farm Eikemaheert, owned by Piet Glas and Angela Rijnen in Loppersum.

Eikemaheert is a mixed, small-scale organic farm covering almost 30 hectares. Piet and Angela run their beautiful traditional Groningen-style farm in harmony with nature and with great respect for culture and history. IVN North Groningen has visited this farm before, but much has changed in recent years.

Successful Organic Farming – How Do They Do It?

In a time when nature is under pressure, and farmers are trying to make a living, it’s not always easy. How does Eikemaheert manage to succeed? We’ll hear all about it during this visit.

Waarde-Ring Award

At the end of last year, Eikemaheert received the "Waarde-Ring" from the Province of Groningen. Angela and Piet were awarded the pin for their efforts to strengthen the connection between food, farming, and society.

According to the province, they earned this recognition “for their unique and compelling way of sharing the story of their farm and their daily life. They also support the next generation of farmers by giving growers the opportunity to start their own gardening initiatives on the Eikemaheert premises.”
