Van Baerle Trio
De Oosterpoort
Trompsingel 27, 9724 DAThe Van Baerle Trio has been successfully building a national and international reputation for twenty years. The three players are perfectly attuned to each other, but each also has a great record of service. Hannes Minnaar – last April a guest in the Dutch Delight series – is one of today’s most successful Dutch pianists. Violinist Maria Milstein won the 2018 Dutch Music Prize, Gideon den Herder is captain of the Residentie Orkest’s cellists. In recent years, the Van Baerle Trio recorded a series of CDs featuring all of Beethoven’s piano trios, which effortlessly rivals the most celebrated recordings.
During this Dutch Delight concert, NPO Classical presenter Beitske de Jong will talk with the trio before the intermission and you will get to know the musicians in a more personal way. You will also hear, among other things, a movement from the piano trio that composer, producer and DJ Gabriel Prokofiev – indeed, the grandson of – wrote for them. After intermission, we return to tradition with Haydn and Schumann. In between, you will hear the sometimes subdued, sometimes rhythmically rousing Tryptich, a work by Rob Zuidam written especially for these three excellent musicians and premiered last March.
