Nationale Voorleesdagen 2025 in Groningen

The National Reading Aloud Days by CPNB are coming up! This book celebration for children aged 0 to 6, taking place from January 22 to February 1, 2025, is all about reading aloud. After all, it marks the beginning of a lifelong joy of reading. The National Reading Aloud Days are organized by the Foundation for Collective Promotion of the Dutch Book (CPNB). You can find more information about this campaign on the official CPNB website. This annual event, which focuses on promoting reading aloud to young children, will also take place in Groningen. From January 22 to February 1, 2025, children and parents in our city can enjoy a series of wonderful reading activities organized in libraries, bookstores, and other cultural institutions.

Nationale Voorleesdagen in Primary Schools in Groningen

During the National Reading Aloud Days, schools and teachers will pay extra attention to children's reading development. In Groningen, a lot of fun and educational events will take place during the Reading Aloud Days. Think of:

Reading Breakfast at the Forum Libraries in Groningen 

In the libraries, many local grandfathers will read aloud from the Picture Book Top 10 of 2025 and Rinus, the Picture Book of the Year.

The National Reading Aloud Days will be ceremoniously opened with the National Reading Breakfast on Wednesday, January 22 at 09:30. The breakfast will be organized in all Forum Libraries. During the breakfast, there will be a reading of Rinus, written by Ingrid & Dieter Schubert. A thrilling and heartwarming story about little brave Rinus, who dives into one adventure after another, but when he gets into trouble, he turns out not to be the only hero in this story.

In Wonderland Forum Groningen, students from Noorderpoort Acting play Lessons from Lions. Watch, play, craft, and eat together during this special breakfast. Tickets are still available for the Ten Boer Library. More information and tickets can be found here.

Meet & Greet with Authors: Meet authors and illustrators of popular children's books.

Ingrid and Dieter Schubert Read Aloud from Rinus (3+): This activity will take place at Forum Groningen on January 22 from 10:00 to 11:30. Tickets are €7.50 and can be purchased via this link. Ingrid and Dieter Schubert, the creators of the Picture Book of the Year, will tell the story of Rinus, show beautiful illustrations, and make a new (and slightly crazy) drawing live. There will also be time to dance and ask questions. A children's party you don't want to miss!

Theater Performances: Enjoy children's theater based on the Picture Book of the Year.

Nancy Bosmans performs: Boobalas! (3+)

On Sunday, January 26, 2025, from 15:00 to 16:00, Nancy Bosmans will perform her interactive theater production 'Boobalas!' at Forum Groningen. Tickets are €7.50 and can be purchased via this link. Join us for a trial adventure with the sweetest monster ever! During this performance, you will travel from the Netherlands to Ghana and back while cooking a 'delicious' book with Nancy. The interactive nature of this production makes writing, reading, and reading aloud a lively experience. There will also be time to have the book signed. This performance is a tribute to the power of stories and promises an unforgettable afternoon!

Students Read Aloud (2+) | Forum Libraries in Groningen

During the most fun reading days of the year, there will be numerous reading aloud activities in the Forum Libraries. Students from ROC Menso Alting will read aloud from the Picture Book Top 10 of 2025. Afterward, the students will engage with the children using props that match the book, and there will be fun activities. Parents will also receive handy activity tips for home afterward.
