Director Veit Helmer's latest film is an ode to the power of (film) images. With enchanting acting by the two lead actors.

A village in the Georgian mountains is linked by a cable car to a town in the valley. Conductor Nino inducts the new employee Iva, and thereafter they see each other every half hour as their cabins cross. Over time, a special rapport develops between the two women that goes beyond mere collegiality. The beautiful images are the dialogue in Gondola as not a word is spoken in this stunning feature film. Director Veit Helmer is a specialist in visual storytelling as with his previous films Tuvalu and Absurdistan.
