What do you do when you bump into an old acquaintance? That's what Mara, a literature professor in Toronto, wonders when Matt, her buddy from her student days, stands before her. An intense portrait of a friendship that is just short of a romantic relationship.

After reconnecting, the two spend a lot of time together; they make silly jokes, have intense conversations, push each other away, and are drawn to each other. What is the nature of this friendship? How close is it to an (adulterous) love affair?

Matt and Mara had its world premiere at the Berlin Film Festival, in the important Encounters section. Radwanski's film was also named Best Film at the Las Palmas Film Festival.
