The In the Spotlight exhibition showcases original pages and sketches from his acclaimed comic series Rampokan and Familieziek, alongside Van Dongen's family photos and personal notes. Born in Amsterdam in 1966, Peter van Dongen has an unbreakable (family) bond with Indonesia. This unique connection makes him exceptionally suited to explore the complex stories of Dutch colonization in Indonesia and its far-reaching consequences. Van Dongen's curiosity has driven him to examine this history from various perspectives, particularly through his graphic novels Rampokan (1998 and 2004) and Familieziek (2017).
