De Markies
Located near Noorderplantsoen, in a quiet residential neighborhood on Koninginnelaan, you can enjoy a quick bite or an extensive dinner at Dinercafé De Markies.
De Markies was long known as the neighborhood restaurant of Oranjebuurt, offering remarkably good quality. In 2017, the property was sold and Eetcafé De Stadstuin took its place. When De Stadstuin vacated the premises in 2021, De Markies returned to its familiar location. Under new owner Benjamin Kappers, the café has been restored to its former glory, serving as both a neighborhood restaurant and an inviting spot for those looking for a leisurely dining experience.
The menu at De Markies features traditional courses (appetizer, main course, and dessert), but can be enhanced with additional starters and intermediate courses. For those who can't decide, there's the Markies Menu. This menu typically includes 3 courses, but can be expanded to 4 courses with an intermediate dish, or 5 courses with an extra soup. Other extra options include a cheese platter and, of course, a matching wine, which can also be chosen from the wine list. This concept allows De Markies to fulfill both of its roles effectively.
Dinercafé De Markies is open from Tuesday to Sunday starting at 5:00 PM. During good weather, the terrace opens at 3:00 PM for some drinks in the sun.
