Where the Ebbingekwartier neighborhood now stands, the second gas factory in the Netherlands was established in 1854. Today, the area has been redeveloped into a cozy, car-free residential area. Some buildings still stand, serving as reminders of its previous function. In one of these monumental industrial buildings, you can enjoy a delightful meal at Restaurant Florentin.
This restaurant takes inspiration from the Florentin district, a multicultural, atmospheric, and artsy neighborhood in Tel Aviv. This creative style is reflected in the street and comfort food crossed with fine dining, offering a mix of Mediterranean, North African, and, of course, Middle Eastern flavors. To sample a bit of everything, the FLO tasting menu and the Balagan menu have been curated. Wine pairing is also available.
The owners have adopted the word "Balagan" as their motto: "a disorderly, confusing, and/or overwhelming situation." This theme is not only present in the food and drinks but also in the interior and the background music—house, funk, or disco—played by a DJ.
Curious if you will be overwhelmed by the "Balagan" at Florentin? The restaurant is open from Tuesday to Sunday, from 18:00 to 23:00, or from 17:30 to 23:00 on Friday and Saturday. Despite being in a car-free neighborhood, parking is not an issue. The Boterdiep parking garage is right beneath the building, with an exit conveniently located next to the restaurant!
