Restaurant Niemeijer
In the city center, near the A-kerk, you'll find Restaurant Niemeijer. In this hospitality establishment founded by Janick and Leonie, efficient and high-quality culinary cuisine is prepared with a strong nod to Groningen and its surroundings.
Before owners Janick and Leonie embarked on their entrepreneurial dream, they gained experience in various Michelin-starred restaurants, including The Jane in Antwerp and Groningen's Noor. In 2023, they opened Restaurant Niemeijer together in a completely redesigned building on Akerkstraat, with an open kitchen and bar as the centerpiece.
In the surrounding restaurant area, guests can enjoy a small but effective à la carte menu with top-quality dishes. The kitchen pays homage to the province of Groningen, transforming local specialties like the "eierbal" into a culinary starter with vadouvan and honey, and using regional products. They even produce their own honey, and various ingredients come from their garden or the local market. The quality of this restaurant has not gone unnoticed. Niemeijer is featured in the Gault & Millau guide, scoring 13 out of 20 points.
The restaurant is open for dinner from Tuesday to Saturday, from 17:30 to 23:00. Lunch is available from Thursday to Saturday, from 12:00 to 16:00. It's also possible to reserve a changing two-course lunch menu.
