His music, steeped in traditional country, Americana, and Tex-Mex, evokes memories of artists like The Hacienda Brothers and George Jones. Yet, he actually grew up on the Thames. His voice is melancholic and soulful, reminiscent of John Moreland. On his latest album, he pays tribute to James Hand, one of his major influences. Live, Connolly is a familiar presence, having shared the stage with artists such as Charlie Crockett.
