Internationally acclaimed for his collaborations with director Michael Haneke and his work on films like Caché, The White Ribbon, and The Piano Teacher, Berger is known for his precise compositions, understated camerawork, and subtle use of lighting. How does he use cinematography to add depth to stories? What choices does he make and why?
Film journalist Hugo Emmerzael will discuss his work and the film with Christian Berger. On Tuesday, April 4th, prior to the discussion, we will watch the film Caché, for which Berger did the cinematography. On Wednesday, April 15th, we will watch Berger's directorial debut, Hanna Monster, Darling.
