DONBA₴GRL is a modern Ukrainian avant-pop artist based in Berlin. Hailing from a small coal mining town in Donbas, she found her creative collaborator and producer Jakohitsdifferent in the German capital. Together, they have created their signature deep bass and Ukrainian folklore sound. First song ’Zbroya’ (weapon in Ukrainian) is about an inner fight with depression and finding the wish, strength, and need to carry on. For the choir part they recorded DYVYNA, an old folk ensemble from Donetsk, who had to flee from Russian aggression twice.
