Nieuwe Markt 1, 9712KN GroningenIntensely personal Virtual Reality experience, narrated by protagonist Sonja, brought to life through 3D modelling, animation and authentic archive footage.
Sonja has always known that the parents she grew up with in Paramaribo, Suriname, were not her real parents but her aunt and uncle. She was only three years old when her Jewish parents were rounded up by the Nazis in 1943 during the evacuation of the psychiatric institution Het Apeldoornsche Bosch. Just in time, her parents managed to hand over their two toddlers to a stranger. Sonja and her sister went into hiding and survived the war. Both their parents were murdered in Auschwitz.
Sonja's parents buried three silver napkin rings in their backyard prior to their deportation. These rings were recently found again and returned to Sonja. The many questions this raises for Sonja are the beginning of this special story. Together with Sonja, we go on a journey into what happened eighty years ago.
