Amsterdam-based singer-songwriter Pitou made “one of the most beautiful contemporary indie pop records of the moment” with her debut album Big Tear, according to a glowing review in de Volkskrant. Her highly specific musical background—singing in a classical children’s choir and traveling with her parents, bringing home cassette tapes of Malinese, Senegalese, and Indian artists—led to her own distinctive musical universe. On her new album P2, she lets herself run free both emotionally and creatively. It’s a carousel ride brimming with life: mania, euphoria, independence, and melancholy all make their way to the dancefloor. From the cacophonous lead single “Too Good To Go”, the ethereal “Pirate” and “Morning Star”, the majestic “Restlessness”, to the manic “To Do What”: P2 marks a more process-based, DIY approach, further amplified by its playful visuals.
