Michael Snow, Joyce Wieland, Marie Meken & Jonas Mekas, USA 1960s

Zot and Zienema are joining forces again, this time inspired by Eye’s Underground exhibition, which spotlighted American avant-garde cinema of the 1960s. This evening, using a 16mm projector, we will screen several titles by thought-provoking makers from this movement. Expect hypnotic studies of time and perception, playful, associative montages, and diary-like odes to the New York avant-garde.

Afterwards, Giulio Erasmus and The End of the Worm will take us on a sonic trip in the basement bar. Expect a choreography of sounds in which field recordings, vocal fragments and abstract melodies circle around each other in a free fall. The quartet weaves together dark and light tones, with a sound that is as cinematic as it is raw.
