Christoph Prégardien & Friends
De Oosterpoort
Trompsingel 27, 9724 DAGerman tenor Christoph Prégardien is praised worldwide for his refined interpretations of the German Lieder repertoire. Just dive into his impressive discography and listen to how he interprets the songs of Schubert, Schumann, Brahms, Mahler, Wolf, Loewe, Wagner, Bach and Beethoven, among others, with his warm, expressive voice. What sets Prégardien apart is his ability to dive deep into the emotions of a song and convey it to his audience in a moving way. His perfect vocal control and pronunciation, his musical intelligence, his attention to textual nuances and musical details, his gift for getting to the heart of the music: it is precisely this sum that makes Christoph Prégardien nothing less than a master singer.
At this concert, he will perform songs by Schubert and Beethoven, accompanied by violinist Franziska Hölscher, cellist Jens Peter Maintz and pianist Daniel Heide. You will also hear, among other things, the Gassenhauer Trio, in which Beethoven incorporated an aria from Joseph Weigl’s then-popular comic opera L’Amor Marinaro. He had picked up the melody in the streets and alleys (Gasse) of Vienna, where it was wildly popular.
