Exhibition 'BoerEn Paard' and blacksmithing demonstration.
Kunstruimte De Smederij
De Vosholen 56, 9611 KS SappemeerFrom June 11 to July 5, paintings by Julia Pankras from Eenrum will be on display at Kunstruimte De Smederij. In her exhibition 'BoerEn Paard' (Farmer And Horse), she portrays the close—yet disappearing—bond between human and horse. Until recently, they were inseparably linked in daily life. Many workers spent day after day on the road with their best friend; a silent understanding found in expression and posture. At De Smederij, Julia brings these memories to life through color and composition.
The exhibition, located at Kunstruimte De Smederij at Vosholen 56 in Sappemeer, can be visited from Thursday through Sunday from 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM. The festive opening will take place on June 13 at 2:00 PM.
On Sunday, June 28 at 1:30 PM, Patrick Doornbos complements the exhibition perfectly with a blacksmithing demonstration. Outside on the grounds of De Smederij, his anvil will be ready and the forge fired up. Step by step, he will show how metal is transformed into a horseshoe. You will hear the rhythm of the hammer and the hiss of water on glowing hot iron: everything speaks of skill and craftsmanship. Experience how precision and patience come together in a centuries-old trade.
Together, the exhibition and demonstration form a diptych of art and nostalgia: a history in which human and horse depended on each other. Both indoors and outdoors, you step back in time. Meanwhile, it raises the question of how connected we still are to the life around us.
