For its successful annual New Year's concerts, Amsterdam Sinfonietta joins forces with an artist from outside the classical world. Previously, the orchestra has collaborated with artists such as Rufus Wainwright, Karsu, and Maria Mena. Now, it is Huub van der Lubbe's turn. Following the memorable tour with De Dijk in 2014, he returns to perform solo with the orchestra.

His rendition of Jacques Brel's 'Amsterdam' with Amsterdam Sinfonietta at the 2025 Prinsengrachtconcert served as a brief prelude to this collaboration. For over forty years, Van der Lubbe was the frontman of the iconic band De Dijk, acted in various films and musicals, and now performs in theaters both solo and with small ensembles. Together with the orchestra, he will perform his own songs alongside hits by De Dijk, all seamlessly interwoven with classical repertoire.
