Citric Dummies+ The Gobs
Downstage at Vera
Oosterstraat 44, 9711 NV GroningenFrustratingly fast punk double
One glance at my watch says it all: I need to hurry to make my appointment. I rush down the stairs and grab my bike. Feet on the pedals, headphones on. The latest album by Citric Dummies blasts through my ears, with a record by The Gobs waiting in the queue. I go fast, faster and faster. Out of breath, I arrive at my destination – just in time.
Better reserve your tickets for the fastest concert of the year, because the Dummies and the Gobs are touring Europe together. On April 4, these two bands are coming to blow the roof of our basement straight through the cloakroom.
The band The Gobs has song titles like ‘My baby is a UFO’ and creates album covers with a clear theme: aliens. They emphasize this in their extraterrestrially exciting music, which occasionally sounds as if the flying saucers have already landed on Earth. Citric Dummies, like their tour mates, hail from the US and describe themselves as ‘fast punk no breakdowns’. That says it all, doesn’t it? | Eli
