This fall, Diggy Dex takes to the theater with a personal performance about happiness. In an intimate setting, joined by guitarist René van Mierlo, he performs songs and shares stories about life’s big and small questions.

In De Zoektocht Naar Geluk (The Quest for Happiness), Diggy Dex brings a selection from his repertoire, featuring recurring themes such as love, parenthood, and meaning. The performance is smaller in scale than his previous tours, with a greater focus on the stories behind the music. Diggy Dex (Koen Jansen) made his debut in the music industry as a hip-hop artist in 2006. While he has always remained true to the hip-hop genre, he has simultaneously explored other musical paths. In 2016, he released his platinum album Golven, followed by Karavaan (2018), Carrousel (2021), and Tempo Giusto (2025).

Dex: “What exactly constitutes happiness? Is it in love? In parenthood? In success? In friendship? In music? In connection? I’ve been trying to find the words for that for years. From the first lyrics I wrote as a teenager to songs like Treur Niet (Ode Aan Het Leven), La Vie Est Belle, and De Zon Op: all my songs are a quest for meaning and happiness.” While Diggy Dex usually performs with a full band, on this tour he is only joined by his regular guitarist René van Mierlo.

“I’m looking forward to performing in a small, intimate setting. In recent years, we’ve mostly played in larger venues and at festivals. That’s amazing, because playing with the full band always brings so much energy. But now it feels right to go a bit 'smaller' again. In this tour, there is even more room for the story behind the songs. I’m really looking forward to that.”
