In his recital, Italian pianist Gianmarco Moneti – the fourth Dutch Classical Talent finalist – pays homage to his good friend Clara. In 2022, she was faced with the self-inflicted death of her father. Moneti tells her story with music that interprets three of Clara’s emotions: anger, dissociation and loneliness.

These include the desolate Piano Sonata No. 2 by Grażyna Bacewicz, one of the best but little-heard Polish composers of the last century. From Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco follow Adagio and Allegro Furioso from the Piano Sonata. Solitude can be heard in a selection from Gabriel Fauré’s Préludes and Nocturnes. Music as consolation for Clara and for all other listeners. .

Grażyna Bacewicz (1909-1969)
Piano Sonata no.2

Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco (1895-1968)
Adagio and Allegro Furioso from ‘Piano Sonata’.

Gabriel Fauré (1845-1924)
Selection from Préludes and Nocturnes

Dutch Classical Talent
Dutch Classical Talent is a development program for young Dutch top musicians. Laureates include Tania Kross, Lavinia Meijer, Nora Fischer, the Van Baerle Trio and the Berlage Saxophone Quartet, just to name a few resounding names. Talent alone is not enough to reach the finals; participants must bring distinctive and thought-provoking programs, vision and a bit of guts. The finals will take place on Sunday, May 31 in TivoliVredenburg (Utrecht).
