Concert: Studio Ghibli Soundtracks at Akerk

On 15 November at 20:00, a remarkable concert will take place inside the atmospheric Akerk in the heart of Groningen. The evening features iconic music from world-famous anime films such as Howl’s Moving Castle, Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, Spirited Away and My Neighbor Totoro. These beloved soundtracks were created by the renowned Japanese creative duo Hayao Miyazaki and Joe Hisaishi.

The contemporary Mystery Ensemble will bring these masterpieces to life with a colourful and passionate performance. A wonderful experience for all ages.

Throughout his long career, Joe Hisaishi has composed music for films, anime, video games, television and commercials. He also created the scores for the 1998 Paralympic Games in Nagano. His most well-known work includes soundtracks for the films of Takeshi Kitano and the animated masterpieces of Hayao Miyazaki.

Hisaishi and Miyazaki are often described as a match made in heaven. Their partnership has produced some of the most beloved film scores ever composed.
