Dutch baritone Henk Neven and world-renowned British pianist Imogen Cooper take you to one of the great highlights of classical music: Winterreise. In 24 songs, set to texts by Wilhelm Müller, Franz Schubert takes you to a desolate winter landscape, where a young man wanders, battling loneliness and memories of a lost love. Nature is frozen, just like his heart. Everything around him seems to mirror his state of mind. Occasionally there is a glimmer of hope, but even that vanishes with the last leaf falling from the tree. Has a rejection in love hit so hard? Is he heading for an early death? And why is a black crow flying along with him?
