In the Akerkstraat, the restaurant Brussels Lof has been established for over 40 years. The establishment began in 1981 and was the first restaurant to primarily cater to vegetarians, and later pescetarians when fish was added. An older restaurant that is actually very contemporary.
Current owner and chef Bob ten Brinke has continued the tradition of fish, vegetarian, and cheese since 2018. For example, the cheese fondue has been on the menu for 40 years. The vegetables come from the garden, the fish is purchased from smaller fishermen. The chef also goes out to pick fresh ingredients himself or to supplement his selection of organic wines from small wineries abroad. This allows for the use of many fresh and organic products for the mostly Mediterranean dishes that are on the, by the way, very affordable menu.
Together with a friend, owner Bob also sells Burgundian products in the adjacent building in the little shop called Bob Kookt. There's also a wine bar at the back!
Brussels Lof is open from Tuesday to Saturday starting at 17:30. The kitchen closes at 22:00.
