Nieuwe Markt 1, 9712KN Groningen GroningenThey are young Sudanese who long for freedom. Their revolution is poetic, driven by the power of words. By interweaving their stories, the film adds fragments of a revolution, a struggle in which the voices of the youth stand up against the power of the army.
Shajane, Maha, Muzamil, Khatab, and the voice of the poet Chaikhoon. They are in their twenties, politically active and artistically creative. This film is a cinematic choir, the collective portrait of a generation fighting for freedom with words, poems, and songs. Confronted with a corrupt army and a paramilitary militia responsible for war crimes in Darfur, Kordofan, and the Blue Nile, they could have lost courage before the beginning. Without the dream that guided them, the power of imagination and the force of poetic discourse, they would not have been able to overthrow the former regime. The film tells of the unequal struggle in which the voices of the revolution faced the fire of the militia.
