On New Year’s Day, the Baaisterhoofd in Delfzijl is filled with excitement. At around 1:00 PM, participants gather near the Eemshotel to kick off the year with a refreshing dive into the Ems. This beloved tradition attracts more than 300 brave swimmers every year, all eager to take the plunge.
Whether you dive in right away or need a moment to gather your courage, everyone is welcome to join. The event is completely open and non-committal — no registration or fee required. This creates a relaxed, friendly and accessible atmosphere for all.
