Bierum in Groningen
Bierum is a village in the municipality of Eemsdelta, about 25 kilometers northeast of the city of Groningen. The village has around 1,000 inhabitants and is located close to the Eemshaven and the Wadden Sea coast.
History and culture
Bierum has a long history dating back to the early Middle Ages. In the center stands the beautiful Romanesque church from the 12th century, one of the oldest churches in the province. The village has a peaceful, rural atmosphere and a close-knit community with various activities and associations.
