The northwestern part of Groningen's city center, with many university locations, buzzes with shops and eateries. Among these locations is the cozy Kromme Elleboog with the dining café Soestdijk, where the ‘hofhouding’ (as the serving staff is called here) is ready to give you a royal welcome.

This café, named after the royal Palace Soesdijk, is not only connected to the Dutch royal family but also to Groningen's student life. In 1992, it was founded as a spot for prince Maurits, who came here to study at the time. He worked here with his brother Bernard and even met his beloved (now princess) Marilène in the café. The connection with the Groninger Student Corps remains. Various year clubs and houses of the Vindicat student association provide staff and regular guests.

Of course, Soestdijk is not just a student café. Everyone can come here for a bite and a drink during lunch, drinks, or dinner. In addition to the à la carte dishes, there is also a royal meal available every day: A main course that changes daily at a good price. Additionally, it is possible to rent a conference/ reception hall above or next to the café. The hunting room above the café is suitable for private gatherings and can be arranged in various ways, just like the Groene Draeck, which is next door, is slightly larger, and can serve as a party venue.

Would you like to experience this royal treatment yourself? Café Soestdijk is open every day. From Monday to Friday from 4:00 p.m. On Saturday and Sunday respectively from 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m.
