De Theefabriek is a unique tea attraction located in the former church and parsonage of the picturesque village of Houwerzijl. Since 1990, De Theefabriek has become a paradise for tea enthusiasts, combining the only tea museum in the Netherlands, an atmospheric tea room, and a fragrant tea shop.
The tea museum offers an engaging journey through the world of tea, from the plant to the cup. Theatrical settings and interactive exhibits provide insight into the history and culture of tea.
The tea room boasts an extensive tea menu, possibly the most diverse selection worldwide. Visitors can enjoy various brunch and lunch options, including à la carte dishes and curated arrangements. The menu also features vegan options, such as the Groninger poffert and various high tea combinations.
The tea shop offers a wide range of teas and tea-related items, allowing visitors to take their favourite flavours home.
De Theefabriek is open from April through October, Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. In November, January (except New Year's Day), February, and March, De Theefabriek is open on Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. During the entire month of December and on New Year's Day, De Theefabriek is closed.
