Vismarkt

The Vismarkt is one of Groningen's iconic squares.

In 1670 the Vismarkt was used to primarily sell fish. Nowadays you will find several restaurants and shops at the Vismarkt. And you can still go to the marketplace for fresh fish. But on the Vismarkt there are more stalls to buy food nowadays. 

Besides food.... every now and then there is a market with antiques, books and LP and records. It is the place for the yearly fair (MeiKermis) and in October yearly the finish of running festival the 4 Mijl of Groningen, open-air performances and open-air concerts.

When is the Vismarkt Marketplace open?

Every Tuesday, Friday and Saturday there is a market on the square with various stalls. In addition to the market, the fish market is also used for other events. From the fish market you have a view of historic buildings such as the Korenbeurs and Der A Church.
