Choir of The King’s Consort

Trompsingel 27, 9724 DA GroningenThe Choir of The King’s Consort is one of the most beloved English ensembles and part of the internationally acclaimed The King’s Consort founded in 1980 by conductor Robert King. In this concert, the choir will present a delightful program of vocal masterpieces by the best British Romantics of the 19th and 20th centuries. Many of the pieces are from the 2016 album Voice from Heaven – British Choral Masterpieces, on which the listener is transported into a world of spiritual beauty.
From the dreamy I Heard a Voice From Heaven by Herbert Howells to the rich harmonies of Faire is the Heaven, in which William Harris voices the beauty of heaven. From Benjamin Britten’s mysterious A Hymn to St. Cecilia – which is not on said CD – through Drop, Drop, Slow Tears, an arrangement of an old English hymn by the Thomas Hewitt Jones to Howells’ Take Him, Earth, For Cherishing, written in memory of President John F. Kennedy, assassinated in 1963. Timeless and moving music, performed magisterially by The Choir of The King’s Consort.
