How can Europe hold its ground now that its most important ally, the United States, can no longer be taken for granted?

Since Trump's return to the White House, the established world order appears to have shifted dramatically. The U.S. president has shown little regard for Europe and is primarily focused on expanding America's own sphere of influence in the pursuit of wealth, power, and natural resources. Ukraine can no longer count on unwavering American support, and Trump's worldview seems more closely aligned with Putin's than with that of Europe. NATO's future has become increasingly uncertain, prompting Europe to explore new ways of safeguarding its own security.

Meanwhile, China continues to expand its global influence, primarily by making other countries economically dependent on its industries—for example, through the supply of rare earth minerals. Countries such as India and the United Arab Emirates are also seeking to strengthen their international position and become major players on the world stage.

How should Europe respond to a world that is changing by the day? Where is the voice of the European Union, and what does that voice actually represent? How should Europe position itself? Is it time to seek new alliances?

Host Eelco Bosch van Rosenthal explores these and many other questions with a range of guests. The discussion will also highlight positive developments and alternative perspectives, including Ukraine's rapid military innovation, the formation of the Coalition of the Willing, Spanish Prime Minister Sánchez's outspoken response to Trump, and the recent election of several pro-European leaders across the continent.
