Groundation was founded in 1998 and grew into an absolute legend within the international roots reggae scene. With their first albums Young Tree and Each One Teach One, the band developed a distinctive and unique sound in which reggae and jazz blend seamlessly. Their global breakthrough came in 2002 with the iconic album Hebron Gate, which is still regarded today as a milestone within the genre.

Following a renewed formation in 2018 around founder and frontman Harrison Stafford, Groundation has remained true to its musical identity. Surrounded by top-tier musicians, all trained at the prestigious Sonoma State University, the band delivers a powerful mix of virtuosity, creativity, and intense live energy.

With more than twenty years of career and ten studio albums to their name, Groundation returns with Candle Burning, their eleventh studio album. This release once again confirms their status as pioneers of American roots reggae, featuring profound compositions, complex yet captivating arrangements, and engaged, poetic lyrics, all recorded fully in analog for a warm and authentic sound.
