Holland Baroque & Les Itinérantes
De Oosterpoort
Trompsingel 27, 9724 DA GroningenHolland Baroque is one of the most open-minded ensembles in the field of early music. Led by the twin sisters Tineke and Judith Steenbrink, the orchestra continuously seeks out collaborations with other musicians and ensembles, giving the works of Baroque masters such as Bach and Handel an unexpected twist. In recent years, this has included highly acclaimed Christmas concerts with Daniël Lohues.
With Noël Nomade, Holland Baroque and the French vocal trio Les Itinérantes join forces in a Christmas program that transcends boundaries, where Baroque elegance and folk music go hand in hand. As the title suggests, this is not a traditional Christmas celebration, but a musical journey through countries, languages, and time. The performance evokes the atmosphere of ancient midwinter rituals in which light and hope are central, featuring serene medieval melodies as well as vibrant Baroque music brought vividly to life.
