I WAS HERE In search of the polar wind, between waters is a monument for the landscape. The starting point for this installation, developed especially for Noorderzon, is the painting Das Eismeer by artist Caspar David Friedrich, which Van Weenen deconstructs in her own way. With themes such as ecological grief, activism, and time, she explores the connections between the period when the painting was made (1823-1824), the present, and the future. Through sculptures and text, you can now explore these connections yourself.
