Jan Akkerman became known in the early 1970s as co-founder of Focus. The band brought a unique mix of progressive rock, jazz, and classical influences. With songs such as Hocus Pocus and Sylvia, Focus broke through far beyond the Netherlands. On his new album, and during this tour, he returns to that groundbreaking repertoire together with his band.

Akkerman has been moving between rock, jazz, and classical music for decades. The live album My Focus was recorded during a tour of the United Kingdom. The recordings showcase Akkerman’s distinctive playing style: technically virtuosic, melodic, and always open to improvisation. In addition to Focus’s work, he also plays his own compositions, including pieces from Close Beauty and the instrumental Piétons.
