Akerkhof 2, 9711JB GroningenThe Korean-American blues poet Nat Myers draws from various musical influences, consistently infused with blues and folk elements of poetry and storytelling. This results in a unique and captivating listening experience.
As a street musician, the poetry student tried to make ends meet after the pandemic broke out. When he started sharing his songs on social media, it caught the attention of none other than Dan Auerbach (The Black Keys), with whom he subsequently recorded his debut album Yellow Peril. The album, named after a term symbolizing the threat to Asian Americans, is soaked in blues and folk, but with a contemporary twist. It brings Myers’ journey through America and his discovery of his own cultural identity to life.
With only glowing reviews in hand, it may well be that we are dealing with a potential rising star thanks to his fabulous guitar playing, excellent vocal qualities, and formidable songwriting skills. A must-see at the Der Aa-Theater!
