NNO & Noordpool Orkest
De Oosterpoort
Trompsingel 27, 9724 DA GroningenRadiohead, A Jazz Symphony is a worldwide audience magnet. The project was developed in Groningen and grew into an internationally successful album. Now this impressive reinterpretation of Radiohead’s music, arranged for jazz soloists and orchestra, returns to the North.
In this programme two leading orchestras from the region work together: the North Netherlands Orchestra and the Noordpool Orchestra. Together they reveal new layers in iconic pieces such as Creep, Karma Police and Paranoid Android.
The symphonic power of the NNO meets the jazz and rock roots of the Noordpool Orchestra. The result is not a traditional concert, but a programme in which well-known pieces gain a new and layered character. Radiohead, A Jazz Symphony premiered in 2012 and immediately became a great success. The music was originally written for the Noordpool Orchestra by founder and artistic director Reinout Douma, who also conducts this performance. The programme features several well-known tracks by the British band. In addition, two extra Radiohead/Thom Yorke pieces are performed: The Eraser, a minimalist masterpiece, and Spectre.
