Orkest van de Achttiende Eeuw
De Oosterpoort
Trompsingel 27, 9724 DA GroningenThey are highlights every time, the semi-staged Mozart operas of the Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century. No orchestra plays Mozart so passionately and with such a rich palette of timbres. Two years ago, the ensemble performed Mozart’s Cosí fan tutte. “With six delightful singers and the equally delightful Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century, they brought a fantastic, gender-neutral vision of the opera, often seen as problematic,” wrote Trouw in a four-star review.
This time the choice is Le nozze di Figaro and it is directed by Jorinde Keesmaat. Expect an evening centered on Mozart’s magnificent music, but with an unexpected look at the story and the various characters. A top international cast takes on the roles of the various characters, and the magnificent vocal fireworks Mozart patented do the rest.
