The concert of Yurii Godo is organized by the French organization Soutenez Les Orphelins Ukrainiens (Support the Ukrainian Orphans) and the Life Guardians Foundation from Groningen. Yurii will sing well-known works such as “Largo Al Factotum” (Figaro) by Rossini, “Avé Maria” by Schubert, “O Sole Mio” by Capua, and “Hallelujah” by Cohen, as well as the famous Ukrainian song “Shchedrik,” which we always hear at Christmas.
Yurii will sing several duets with the mezzo-soprano from Odessa, Elina Mikheeva. The opera singers will be accompanied by Olena Maltseva (1st violin), Hanna Ignatenko (2nd violin), and Antonia Kolenchuk (cello).
About Yurii Godo
Godo graduated from the National Music Academy of Ukraine and the Belcanto Higher School of Vocal (Barcelona, Spain). He has been a guest at major concert and opera stages, such as the legendary Teatro Real (Madrid), Carnegie Hall (New York), and theaters in Paris, Naples, Venice, and Munich.
He studied with Placido Domingo, Montserrat Caballe, Jose Sempere, Maestro Jaime Arragal, Maestro Raina Kabaivanska, and Eduardo Jimenez. As the holder of the prestigious international Billboard Music Award, recognized as the best voice in classical music in Spain, King Juan Carlos awarded Godo the silver royal cup.
Repertoire
Yurii Godo has an extensive repertoire. A selection from his repertoire includes: "La Traviata" (Alfredo) and "Rigoletto" (Duca di Mantova) by Verdi, "Lucia di Lammermoor" (Edgardo) by Donizetti, "Madam Butterfly" (Pinkerton), "La Boheme" (Rodolfo), "Tosca" (Cavaradossi) by Puccini, "Cavalleria Rusticana" (Turridu) by Mascagni, and "West Side Story" (Tony) by Bernstein.
In May 2006, the single "Ascolta Il Mare" was released in Italy; a duet with the Italian pop star, Veronica Ventavoli. In October of the same year, the maxi-CD with the single "Non" was released, and in November the pop album "Il Dono Della Vita."
In 2012, he recorded the single "Canto Per Te," dedicated to Luciano Pavarotti. In 2013, Godo recorded the soundtrack for the historical film "Luka" (Ukraine-Belarus).
In 2015, Yurii became the author of the popular international musical project "Ukrainian Belcanto." From 2004 to now, he has been working with the music production company "PPG-studios," the production company of Andrea Bocelli.
In 2019, Yurii Godo presented the program “My Bohemian Life” at the Odessa National Opera and Ballet Theater. From 2016 to 2022, Yurii organized numerous solo concerts around the world and participated in many charitable projects to support (orphan) children and the needy in Ukraine.
