Alt country and Americana formation

The Groningen-based band Sunken Lands combines melancholy and raw energy in a mix of Americana and country. Their sound moves between the groovy outlaw country of Waylon Jennings and the storytelling country rock of Drive-By Truckers. The name refers to the peat bogs of Groningen and Drenthe, as well as to The Sunken Lands by Rosanne Cash. The band has already proven its power live alongside Dale Watson, The Long Ryders, and Bob Wayne.

Now, there’s Burning Desire, the new album that builds on the eponymous single released earlier this year. The release will take place at VERA and will be followed by a tour through clubs and festivals across the country.

Lisa Ploeger opens the evening with her honest, heartfelt country-pop. Her latest EP We’re All Just Human Beings is pure, rootsy, and full of stories that resonate.
