Lovers of folk rock for the likes of The War On Drugs, Bon Iver or Phosphorescent, take note: Alberta Cross is bound to please! The project behind Petter Ericson Stakee and London friend Terry Wolfers has already captured many a heart. Their fiery rock songs possess an Americana/blues slant as well as a certain vulnerability and earthiness that cannot be resisted.

The band was formed in the mid-’00s by Swedish-born lead singer and guitarist Petter Ericson Stakee and his London-based friend Terry Wolfers. When they released their debut record The Thief & The Heartbreaker in 2007, it immediately struck a nerve. What followed was success on both sides of the Atlantic, and high-profile outings with Mumford & Sons, Portugal. The Man, Neil Young, Them Crooked Vultures (Dave Grohl, Josh Homme and John Paul Jones) and Rag N’ Bone Man.

Their reworked debut will be re-released in 2024, with a wealth of musical collaborations with friends (Band of Skulls, Katie Melua are already Brooks, more famous names to follow). The album was re-recorded in Frome, Somerset, at the Bert Jansch studio of Ethan John and Dom Monks (Big Thief). The release was self-produced by singer Petter Ericson Stakee of Alberta Cross and mastered at Abbey Road Studios. That promises something when he will perform the re-edited album at Simplon!
