Hail The King

Fantan Mojah, the recording and performance alias of Jamaican reggae artist Owen Moncrieffe, delivers an energetic blend of roots reggae and dancehall. Inspired by artists like Burning Spear and Buju Banton, his music, as a devoted Rastafari, reflects his faith with a positive message.

Born in 1975, he began his career with a traveling sound system. Initially, he called himself Mad Killer, a tribute to Bounty Killer. After becoming a Rastafari, he changed his name to Fantan Mojah, and his music adopted a more positive tone.

A Musical Journey

His breakthrough came with Down Sound Records in 2004, releasing the singles “Hungry” and “Hail the King.” His debut album Hail the King followed in 2005 via Greensleeves, which was succeeded by the albums Stronger (2008) and Rebel I Am (2012). In 2016, Soul Rasta was released by Young Veterans, alongside a joint album with Lutan Fyah later that year.

Fantan Mojah is a favorite at festivals in Jamaica and shines on stages worldwide, including TivoliVredenburg and De Oosterpoort. Now it’s time to add EM2 to that list!
