With good stories and inspired conversations, duos who barely know each other offer an antidote to the lurking threat of apocalyptic scenarios.
An inspired conversation as a remedy against despondency
"The Paris climate goals are approaching rapidly. The same applies to the goal we have set for ourselves in the Netherlands: a 55% CO₂ reduction compared to 1990 levels. If we want to achieve these goals, fundamental choices are necessary. If we don't, and we keep passing the buck, there is a good chance that the construction sector will come to a screeching halt after 2030."
This warning comes from architect Marianne Loof of LEVS architects. Her firm has been advocating for a sustainable transition for years. She does the same in her role as Chief Architect for Railways, a position she has held since early 2022. Illustrative of this is the study LEVS conducted on Carbon-based design. It serves as a tool to maintain control over a building's CO₂ footprint during the design phase. As Chief Architect for Railways, Marianne Loof is also strongly committed to themes such as circularity and sustainability. Additionally, she draws attention to climate-adaptive stations and the sustainable value of our public transport.
